When to Replace Your Business Signage

Faded colours, dated branding, peeling vinyl — tired signage sends the wrong message to customers. Here's how to tell when it's time for a signage refresh, demonstrated through a real Bundaberg car yard rebrand.

Terry Signs Bundaberg — signage refresh and rebrand specialists

Your business signage is the first thing potential customers see. But signs don't last forever — Queensland's intense sun, humidity and storms take their toll. The question is: how do you know when it's time to replace your signage?

Faded Colours

Sun-bleached signs look neglected and unprofessional.

Dated Branding

Your signage no longer matches your current logo or brand.

Peeling or Damage

Cracked panels, peeling vinyl or water damage.

If any of these sound familiar, it's time for a signage refresh. Below, we walk through a real signage rebrand we completed for Ross Gray Motor City, a used car yard in Bundaberg — showing exactly what's involved from start to finish.

Before — Site Inspection

Ross Gray Motor City in Bundaberg called us in to freshen up their used car yard signage. The existing signs had done their time — faded red panels with dated branding that no longer matched the dealership's current look. A site inspection confirmed what we expected: the old signage needed a full replacement, not a patch job. This is a textbook example of the "dated branding" and "faded colours" signs we mentioned above.

Production — Materials & Process

Back at the factory, we got to work on the new panels. The brief was clean and simple: easy-to-read black vinyl cut lettering on gloss white aluminium composite panels, paired with the Ross Gray Motor City logo produced as an HP Latex digital print. The result is bold, high-contrast signage that reads from the road and is built to handle the Queensland sun. This combination — aluminium composite panels with vinyl cut lettering — is one of the most durable and cost-effective options for business signage in Bundaberg.

Installation — On Site

Installation day brought typical Bundy weather — overcast with a few puddles on the ground — but nothing that was going to slow us down. The old red panels came down and the fresh new signage went straight up. The "Ross Gray Motor City — Used Cars" branding panel and the contact details panel were mounted across the front of the building, giving the yard a completely new street presence. Total turnaround from production to installation was approximately one week.

The Finished Result

The transformation speaks for itself. Clean black-on-white typography with the Ross Gray Motor City logo gives the dealership a modern, professional look that's impossible to miss from the street. The phone number and website are front and centre, making it easy for customers to get in touch. This is the kind of result a signage refresh delivers — better visibility, more credibility, and a street presence that attracts customers.
